Sacristy helps people find Mass, Confession and Adoration, read the day's readings, and pray. This page says what the Sacristy website and app keep about you. It is short on purpose.

Finding a church needs no account

You do not sign in to find a church or read the readings. When you press Use my location, your phone or browser asks your permission first. The search then runs in your own browser, against files the site sends you. Your location is not sent to Sacristy.

What stays on your device

In the app, with no account, your notes, examination answers, prayer history, streaks, saved items, place and settings stay on your phone. The app sends none of them anywhere. On the website, the only thing kept on your device is your choice of light or dark.

If you choose a free account

An account is optional. While you are signed in, three kinds of your own material may sync between your own devices: your notes, your examination answers and your prayer history. They go to one place, the hosted copy that serves your sync. No parish and no other person reads it. We never sell it and never use it to track you. When you sign out, syncing stops. When you delete your account, the hosted copy is removed.

Forms on this website

If you ask us to add a parish, or a parish applies for Parish Login, we keep what you type in the form: the parish, the town, your ZIP code, and your name, role, email and phone if you give them. Two people at Sacristy read it. We use your email only to answer you. A request for a parish is used to decide which parishes to add.

Usage counts and crash reports

The app may send anonymous counts of how it is used and reports when it crashes. They carry no id, name, place or free text.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies and loads no advertising or tracking scripts. Our host keeps ordinary server logs, such as the address a page was asked for, for security and to keep the site running.
